The Mustang’s nose is revised to be elongated and smoother. Other alterations include improved taillights, a reverse hood scoop, and the addition of a convertible after it is introduced at the 1982 Chicago Auto Show.
The GT’s changes include a wide black hood stripe and deeper fog lights in the new, less angular spoiler. The GT also receives the addition of a 600-cfm four-barrel Holley carburetor. The 5.0L attains 175 horsepower and can reach sixty m.p.h. in less than 7 seconds. The 3.8-liter V6 replaces the inline six engine, as well.
