The
Mustang was once again available in two body styles: the coupe and
convertible. The Mustang becomes the number one selling convertible in
the United States.
New to the Mustang is the Mach 1000 Audio
System. Included is a 6-disc in-dash CD changer with an MP3
option. The system pumps out more than 570-watts RMS (1,140-watts peak
power) including a 60 watt parametrically equalized amplifier, six 85-watt
subwoofer amplifiers, four subwoofer speakers, four midrange tweeters along
with two 10-inch, trunk-mounted, acoustic suspension subwoofer enclosures.
Sixteen-inch wheels were standard on the V-6
Mustang, and the optional side-stripe was now thicker. Sonic Blue was
introduced in 2002.
Not many Cobras were produced for 2002, and
those that were produced were immediately sent to Australia where they were
converted to right-hand drive. Another set of fog lamps and side marker
lamps were added to the front bumper.
Roush introduced their supercharged 360-hp
360R which was available in red with white stripes and white with blue
stripes.
